Fall, leaves, fall

© Manuela Thames Photography 2012

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.

I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night's decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me". Autumn is my favorite season by far. I am in love with it. I can't wait for cold, crisp air, leaves on the ground, rain, wind, drinking hot tea, or hot chocolate, a warm blanket, red wine, movies, books, soup, candles, skirts with tights and boots, scarfs, sweaters, and endless walks to enjoy the beautiful colors.

Yay! Beautiful post, and my feelings exactly. I hope you will do Poetry Wednesday every week.

I too am happy for autumn to be here! When I see the first orange leaves I always get a rush of joy. More than that, at times tears have actually come to my eyes. It's embarrassing. "Why are you crying?" "Oh, nothing, it's just I'm so happy it's fall..."

Love the hosta shot.

this could also fall under "gentle" as the wind is gently beginning to rustle the leaves...
